Airbnb launches “Book now, pay later” option

Airbnb has introduced a new payment method in Portugal that allows travelers to book accommodation without paying anything at the time of booking.

How it works:

* The traveler blocks an eligible stay without an initial payment.

* The total amount only needs to be paid shortly before the end of the free cancellation period specified in the advertisement.

* This option is available for accommodations with flexible or moderate cancellation policies.

According to Airbnb, this model (already successfully tested in the US) increases flexibility for users and can drive more bookings for hosts.
